I lived in LA for a summer and, coming from the suburban Midwest, was absolutely shocked by the disparity between the area's rich and the poorest of the poor. This charity is different from the "throw a bunch of money at a problem and hope it will go away" approach, and I love it. I'm going to remember this when I'm back in the LA area.
