I know it's been a while, I've been terribly busy. Right now I'm watching the Lakers v. Celtics Playoff game number 4.
Now, I feel as though I should say this. Reality tv is awful. Do people watch it to make themselves feel better about themselves? Or is it just for pure noise and flashing colors/ fake cleavage? Well, I for one can't take it. We are getting closer and closer to watching Gladiators kill each other for entertainment. And then calling these people reality "stars" or celebrities? Nuh-uh. Let's call em what they are. Willing to prostitute themselves out to be famous.
On the flip side of that: I love Pau Gasol, Derek Fisher, and Kobe Bryant.
This weekend is busy all the sudden.
Friends, friend's show, show with friends, friends, show.
Promising!!
Work and no play makes me... well a workaholic.
ox,
Ayla K.
reality TV sells whatever people are willing to buy. I think of it this way: looking at their "reality" makes your own life look so much more real and authentic. Also, most of the people flashing on reality shows, at the end of the day are miserable with disgust for themselves.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, out of curiosity, do you read people's comments or are you content with just posting your ideas?
People would feel much more appreciated if you replied to some of their comments. I'm just saying...
by the way, I don't really know who you are, but there was something about your blog that pushed me to start my own. So, I have actually mentioned you in my blog! check it out when you have time!
ReplyDeleteAMEN sister!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, and that happens all over the world, is so sad...
ReplyDeleteP.D Pau Gasol Best Spanish basketball player ever!!!
I'm not really a fan of reality shows. I've watched a few here and there but it's just stupid. Too much of the fake catty people and stupid "drama."
ReplyDeleteI'm going to disagree a bit. Such a diverse group of TV shows get categorized as reality TV that any blanket statement about their quality is going to be inaccurate. I love The Amazing Race. It shows a lot of the world and learn about other cultures by watching the show. It also has a lot of suspense and is very well produced.
ReplyDelete"Traditional celebrities" also have their share of misbehaving folks. You may be a Kobe Bryant fan, but I don't like him. Back in 2003, he was charged with sexual assault. The charges were later dropped, but even according to Bryant's account of things, he behaved really badly. Just a few months after his wife gave birth to their first child, Bryant had sex with a 19-year-old hotel worker he barely knew at her workplace. According to his lawyer, she may be a schizophrenic.
Character and talent are two different dimensions. A talent sports star could hypothetically be a much less admirable person than a reality star.
Hey, I'm a new follower so I just read this older post. Thanks for putting that out there about Reality television. I couldn't agree more!
